3) She usually acts much drunker than she actually is. She learns a lot that way.

1) She thinks sometimes about her mystical, mythical mother, but not often. She dreams of Uncle Kenji more, of his voice and his songs and his guitar-callused fingers. She briefly wonders if this is wrong of her, but stops and plays his song again.
2) She will never trust someone whose face she cannot see.
3) Kanna can wolf down two bowls of ramen in one sitting and often will. When Uncle Kenji comes back, they go find a ramen stand amidst the wreckage of society, and even though it's by far not the best ramen she's ever had, it is still the best ramen she's ever had.

Date: 2007-05-18 08:15 pm (UTC)2) Reaping is a job to her. It is a sometimes unpleasant one, like giving tickets to assholes (though sometimes that can be fun as well) or examining a murder scene. But it is her job, and she will do it well and without a fuss.
3) She secretly loves Footloose and taught herself some of the dance sequences. She will every so often blast cheesy music and just lose herself to it, the stresses of work (both jobs) lost in the movement of limbs to music.

2) He has secretly tried on glasses before, particularly now that his right eye is being shared. He put them back down, as he is still unwilling to answer the questions about worsening eyesight that would arise.
3) Very rarely, he wonders what it would be like to be small and cute and helpless, like all the random spirits that Watanuki is drawn to rescuing. He shakes it off -- if he were, who would get Watanuki out of his many scrapes?
Oh! Um, how far along are you in Furuba? I don't want to accidentally spoil you (I haven't finished myself, but I'm around ch. 126).

Date: 2007-05-18 09:39 pm (UTC)1) He brings gifts back every time he goes down to the lower world. It used to just be for Tenpou, but he has since added Konzen and Goku to the list.
2) He knows a lot more than most people give him credit for; he has actually (gasp!) read books and knows every single rule for a man of his position. The latter makes it that much easier to break them.
3) He is not afraid of death or loss or change. Yes, his heart will seize up when Tenpou does something stupid (like, say, deciding to take on a giant T-rex youkai by himself). And he is terrified for Goku when the Seiten Taisei emerges. But he can deal with those.
What Kenren fears most is stagnation.

Date: 2007-05-19 06:43 am (UTC)1) She has always been good at internal politics. She knows who to talk to and what to say; she knows when to playact the weak female and when to take no prisoners. She just doesn't realize that she is not just good at it, she is impossibly good at it.
2) She secretly still reads shoujo manga. She used to be a Nakayoshi girl in elementary and a Margaret girl in middle school, and she briefly gave it up in high school and college when her father berated her for still reading them. He berated Hiro as well, but Hiro never stopped. She started again when Hiro left copies of 20th Century Boys around, and she is just now rereading her mother's copies of Rose of Versailles.
3) She has resented and loved and protected Hiro for as long as she can remember. She listens to her father telling Hiro stories of Kensei while pretending to do other things, and she tells herself that she is neither Kensei nor the princess, but the dragon.
