Amazing! I am actually attempting to fulfill some requests!

I will get to all of them, really. It just may take a little time...

For [livejournal.com profile] minnow1212: Five things that Kaylee saw on a planet once and is saving up money for

Spoilers for series and movie

1. Kaylee has known about vibrators for quite some time now. They've got batteries, which are almost like mini engines, and they make reassuring buzzing noises. But she never knew there were such things as glass dildos until she went shopping with Inara.

They're beautiful. Some are smooth and translucent, others have bright blue or red or green swirls or dots on the side (Inara tells her why). For once, she wants something like that between her legs, clean and clear and slick, nothing like her old vibrator with its batteries running out. She leaves a fingerprint marring the shining surface of one, imagines she is touching Simon, touching Inara, smooth skin against callused hands.

2. Mal told her they didn't have enough money for a catalyzer, and she apologized to Serenity and started saving her own. She had almost saved up enough for one. But then there was fire rushing at her, and Zoe was hurt, and almost enough wasn't enough at all.

3. She wishes she could buy games for River, more than the jacks she has. She would give River the toys that she sees in store windows, fuzzy stuffed animals or bead kits. But even if she had the money, even if River wanted such things, she could never buy back a childhood that warped the lives of one adult and one slim figure who has slipped from maturity's grasp.

4. One day, she will go back and buy that plate that Simon called trash. When she does, she will break it and scatter the pieces, then she'll glue it back together and hang it in her room. It will have pieces missing, and it will be uglier, but it will still be there. And she will be good and resist the temptation to show it to Simon and tell him that even though he's got the fancy education, she knows what a symbol is as well.

5. Despite the hominess of the kitchen and the dining area, Kaylee sometimes gets sick of extruded protein and canned food from Blue Sun. When she does, she unfolds a piece of paper, gently smooths out the wrinkles. It's only a picture, only green leaves and a small pot and dirt, but she will have them someday. She can almost see Book's smile when she folds it back up again, and she thinks finally, after Miranda, Serenity has room to come alive again, despite all her dead.

For [livejournal.com profile] telophase: Kakashi's five favorite books

Spoilers up till ch. 325 of Naruto

1. Icha Icha Paradise

2. Icha Icha Violence

3. The Icha Icha series knockoff, Ecchi Ecchi Forest, which is not nearly as good (though he will never tell Jiraiya this), but, er, scratches the itch when necessary.

4. The Ecchi Ecchi series knockoff, Ero Ero Ecchi Icha.

5. Kakashi found a battered, browning copy of Rosemary Rodgers' Sweet, Savage Love in the Konoha library when he was eleven. It was horrible. It was the best thing he'd ever read. He is trying to appease the spirits of the past Hokages to stave off the very likely event of Naruto, Sasuke or Sakura finding it. Bonus points for never letting Sakura find it.

i. Naruto told Kakashi about Sai's secret book, the one with handdrawn pictures. If something like that existed, and if Kakashi could draw, and if he weren't completely opposed to the merest smidgen of the shadow of the idea, he might have a book like that. Maybe.

And in that imaginary book, he just might have a few scribbled stick figures.

But he doesn't have a secret book, and it isn't his favorite book.

He has pictures by his nightstand instead, and that saves him from the embarrassing desire to draw little ninja stick figures, heads together, hands clasped, alive and unhurt and unpossessed, smiling.

You are breaking my heart with both of these.

And also, the quintessential fan experience: It was horrible. It was the best thing he'd ever read.

Thank you! I had a hard time making Kakashi's interesting and not just the Icha Icha books.

Hee! I am sort of tempted to pick it up, since it seems to be a bit of the ur-romance, but ... then again, I think I can live without ;).
