Name a fandom you know I know and I'll tell you:

1. The first character I first fell in love with
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't
4. The character I love that everyone else hates
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer
6. The character I would shag anytime
7. The character I'd want to be like
8. The character I'd slap
9. A pairing that I love
10. A pairing that I despise

Zero is the blond guy(who I love muchly) Kaname is the dark haired vampire(who I find to be rather creepy and pedophilic)

I feel the exact same way you do about Jaime and Jaime/Cersei...I kinda like Jaime as an idea, and I find him interesting, but I don't get why everyone else loves loves loves him so much. And he and Cersei give me the squick too, but at least we're somewhat supposed to see them that way.

Sansa is actually my second favorite character out of the whole thing(after Jon...I love the coming of age heroic fantasy storyline too much to not like him) then Dany and Arya. I've never understood why people dislike Arya so much...I mean, the only thing that was ever really wrong with her was that her parents sheltered and indulged her too much, and she's probably have the roughest path of all so far(other's had technically had it rougher, but been far more prepared for it)

I think we're supposed to want to slap them all at some time or another, and I completely get what you mean about Tyrion/Sansa.

*is giddy there's someone else not in love with Jaime*

Oh yay! Someone else who likes Sansa! I mean, I don't hate Arya, but I'm so sick of the tomboy = good, girly girl = bad coding in so much of fantasy. Especially because the subtext sounds like "You're ok as long as you don't act feminine."

And very with you on not loving Jaime!

Actually, given the last book, Martin seems to be taking something of a reverse path on the girly/tomboy thing...Arya's starting to be darker and not quite as "good" anymore(which has been happening for a while) while Sansa is starting to be stronger and smarter.

Jaime is...on the one hand, he probably is the most complex and interesting character, but it doesn't mean he's the BEST character, or one I want a lot of focus on...I like reading about him, but not necessarily HIM...he's more interesting to me as an approach to the legendary hero idea than as a character on his own merit, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, definitely know what you mean re: Jaime. I think my problem with him is that he's changed so much that I don't really recognize him from the Jaime who pushed little kids from windows, and I think Martin's been cheating a little with respect to that.

Yes. I wonder if Jaime was always meant to have the role now, or if it was a later decision. It's like he went from monster with a heroic legend to antihero and Cersei's victim, and I found the first version much more interesting.

I've yet to start the second book yet, so I don't understand all this Jaime love, but it intrigues me. Does he earn it, or does he just run around being pretty and blond?

Sansa is definitely the one I never expected to love as much as I do. I feel she was unfairly maligned in Arya's POV, and I still do like Arya. And Dany once she grew a spine. And Jon, thus far.

I actually don't like Ned Stark that much.

Jaime... eh, it's spoilery to explain, but it's not about teh pretty.

I ended up liking Sansa way more than I ever expected to.

Maybe I'm a cynic, but I figured that people don't need a reason to like a fictional pretty white boy who's an arsehole.

I was rooting for her so hard when she wanted to push Joffrey off the castle roof.

Slightly OT: I'm pretty sure that the youngest Stark boy is a future sociopath.

Sadly, I think you're right about pretty white boys. I do really like the storyline in question, though.

Sansa: Oh God, me too!

Rickon: So do I!

Rickon! I know he's three years old, but there's something wrong with that boy! I thought no-one else saw it!

And this is the most functional family in Westeros from what I've seen.

HEE! Whatever gave you that impression? Not fandom, surely! ;)

I think Rickon is a future sociopath as well.

I was very, very disappointed that Sansa did not grasp the opportunity she had. Maybe if a similar opportunity presents itself soon, she will.

Rickon is definately a future psychopath. One of them has to go evilly nuts...

And a very valid point about Jaime.

It was probably the intelligent thing to do. Pushing a king off the roof of his castle is not so smart.

Get married an put arsenic in his afternoon tea... mead?

Sadly, it was, indeed, the smartest thing to do. But if only she could have done it without getting offed herself...I feel she should have worked in a way to get some kicking in later, though...

Um. I don't think he earns it. I think Martin thinks he earns it somewhat, but I think Martin cheats. Plus, I still dislike Jaime.

I don't like Ned Stark that much either; I keep wanting to shake him through the first book!

I also secretly kind of like Cersei. At least she's smarter than Ned Stark and Robert Barratheon put together (not saying much, I know).

I need to get my hands on 'A Clash of Kings'. I am going book shopping tomorrow.

I would secretly like Cersei, but when we get her POV...

Let's just say I ranted a lot after finishing about Martin's gender stuff.
