Hee! Yes. I wish I had read more Chinese literature so I know if there's a similar count. I do remember a whole genre of poetry written in the colloquial style, usually done in a woman's POV about the hardships of being a woman/wife/prostitute/singer/person left behind when the men go to war, but those are all written by men, so there is quite a bit of romanticization and etc. Also, lots of women pining away. So not so much of the active suicide, imho, but much pining, and much "she lost the will to live" type stuff.
