Oh, Hakkai! I really love his conflict here! His memories of Kanan, his self-hatred of who and what he's become tempered by his relationships with, his place with, his need for the others - Sanzo, Goku and of course Gojyo - and their need of him in their dysfunctional but still functional family. Clinging to the past by threads of guilt. Really poignant!
And that last stanza - the blood on his hands and Gojyo's hair - it's a lovely complement to the events in Vol.s 4 & 5. Lovely story! I really enjoyed it!
