Spoilers for all of Samurai Champloo
1. Fuu has discovered that if she sticks her finger in the small groove between Mugen's final two ribs and gives him a solid poke, Mugen will leap into the air, fall over, or flail wildly. Sometimes when she's very lucky, he'll do all three, one after the other.
She hoards this secret knowledge and only uses it when absolutely necessary.
Sadly, since Mugen is a greedy barbarian, it is absolutely necessary during every meal.
2. Days after the unfortunate incident with the brothel (the one involving Jin, not the various ones involving Mugen), Fuu was busying herself by folding everyone's clothes. True, Jin would always take one look at his nicely arranged, albeit slightly wrinkled, gi and hakama, shake them out and refold them. And true, Mugen would completely fail to notice and shove his clothes into a corner. But Fuu had her own reasons.
After a few weeks of sloppy folding, Fuu found a cheap Saikaku book in Jin's gi. When she held it between her hands, the worn pages flipped open to a story of a man, forever ruined by falling in love with a geisha.
She hadn't known that deep down inside, Jin was a complete and utter sap.
The next day, she found a sheet of paper with a carefully sketched diagram of the brothel. Jin had mapped out assorted escape routes and ranked each one for danger, likelihood of discovery, and amount of time needed. She looked up to find Jin glaring silently at her.
He didn't need to snatch the thing out of her hands so quickly. She already knew he was a giant dork anyway.
3. One day, Fuu discovered that Jin and Mugen both disliked burdock. Given their appetites, she suspected this was the only thing they would not eat. Naturally, she ordered it in every dish for every meal for about a month and ate it with relish, gloating whenever Mugen would try and steal some, only to spit it out.
Now they all hate burdock.
4. She knows that no matter what happens, no matter how hard she tries, the journey will end, and they will leave, and she will be alone again.
5. She knows that no matter what happens, they will be there for her in the least expected of ways. Even though she yells at them and scolds them and pleads with them every day, she knows they care. That's why in the end, she doesn't ask them to finish the journey with her.
They do anyway.
That's how she knows the three of them will meet again someday.
