Looking for reincarnation ideas between Saiyuki Gaiden and Saiyuki... any thoughts?

So far I've got:

- Konzen/Sanzo as the traditional exiled poet-scholar
- three mahjongg buddies who can never find a fourth player
- a retired soldier-turned-teacher
- a martial artist who lives on prize money
- a tea house singer and her patron
- a grouchy court historian

Ooh, I like those ideas.

A bartender and two loyal customers.

Two regular soldiers and a quartermaster. (A chaplain would be perfect, but I'm not sure they had any in ancient China, even Saiyuki ancient China.)

That's so funny, I was actually thinking of the bartender one as well.

Though I want it so that there aren't that many where all three of them get to be together because my story is sad and tragic! Or something...
